Invited Session - ACC 2018

On behalf of the IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Smart Grid, we are organizing an invited session for the American Control Conference, in Milwaukee June 27-29, 2018. The details of the special session are below.

Proposed Title: Optimizing Interdependent Infrastructures

Many important phenomena occur at the couplings between infrastructures. For example, water networks consume large quantities of energy through their pumps. Heating networks may offer significant flexibility to power system operators, but are modeled by cumbersome partial differential equations. New schemes for improving the coordination of physically coupled infrastructures may yield substantial benefits in overall system efficiency.

This session seeks papers that address couplings between infrastructures. Examples of couplings include:

  • Water, heat, gas, and energy
  • Energy and water consumption by the food industry
  • Environmentally constrained systems, e.g., in hydroelectric generation

The deadlines are as follows:

August 15, 2017 – Notification to organizers that you will participate in special session
September 10, 2017 – Send paper title, authors, and abstract to organizers.
September 17, 2017 – Submit papers.  We will also be submitting the invited session proposal on this day.
January 15, 2018 – Notification of acceptance/rejection.
February 26, 2017 – Final papers are due.

Please let us know if you are interested as soon as possible, but no later than January 20.
